This super cool dice are a matte black until you shake or roll them - they have an action activated led light that blinks various colors for approximately 10 seconds after you roll them.
Recharge as necessary by putting the dice back in the case; make sure the two bronze pads are on the matching pads in the case.
These dice are plastic and very lightweight.
